“The arrival of the Zanzibar Marathon opens a new chapter in promoting tourism through such festivals,” he stated.

Dr. Jumbe emphasized that the marathon is part of the government’s efforts to fulfill President Dr. Mwinyi's commitment to advancing tourism and accelerating its growth to increase the number of visitors to Zanzibar.

"The aim of these races is to broaden the scope of tourism and boost the economy of Zanzibar and its people," he explained, adding that the government is working tirelessly to ensure that tourism is promoted to attract more visitors to the islands.

He further encouraged citizens to actively participate in the marathon, which will feature races of five, ten, fifteen, and twenty kilometers. "Winners from first to third place will be awarded cash prizes," he said.

Dr. Jumbe also outlined strategies to enhance Zanzibar’s appeal to tourists, including promoting heritage, traditional sports, local cuisines, and conference tourism.

"These efforts are aimed at increasing tourists' length of stay and boosting national income," he added.

Touchroad International Chairman, Dr. Hi, expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating on the event.

"Participating in this festival strengthens our relationship with Zanzibar and contributes to advancing tourism," he remarked.

The festival is expected to attract participants from various countries, including China, Ethiopia, Kenya, and host Tanzania.
