"The 14th East African Community (EAC) Armed Forces Command Post Exercise has officially opened in Nairobi, Kenya, to strengthen regional security collaboration.
Running from May 6 to May 28, 2026, the multinational event trains military, police, and civilian personnel to handle modern security threats together."
Strengthening Regional Defense
The multinational exercise, dubbed Ushirikiano Imara, has officially commenced at the Ulinzi Sports Complex. The training brings together personnel from EAC Partner States to improve interoperability and collective security. Participants focus on joint capabilities in Peace Support Operations, Counter-Terrorism, Counter-Piracy, and Disaster Management.
Addressing Complex Threats
EAC Deputy Secretary General Andrea Aguer Ariik Malueth emphasized that the region faces complex, interconnected threats like transnational organized crime. He noted that these challenges require stronger coordination, practical cooperation, and timely information sharing among defense institutions.
A Shared Vision for Peace
Kenya’s Vice Chief of the Defence Forces, Lieutenant General John Omenda, highlighted that no nation can stand alone against criminal groups like Al-Shabaab and Boko Haram. Under the theme “Enhancing Regional Readiness for Peace, Security and Resilience,” Exercise Director Major General John Nkoimo stated that the command post drills will significantly improve multinational operational effectiveness.
