CAG Makes Official Visit to Ngorongoro Conservation Area




The Controller and Auditor General (CAG), Charles Kichere, has urged staff of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) to continue executing their duties in strict adherence to laws, regulations, and procedures, while promoting teamwork to safeguard the proper use of public resources.



Speaking during a meeting with the management of the Authority, Kichere emphasized that institutional success during audits is only possible through compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks.



"Whenever you are carrying out your daily responsibilities, it is important to uphold the law, act professionally, and always remember that you are here to serve Tanzanians through the resources you manage," said Kichere.



On his part, the Conservation Commissioner of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority, Abdul-Razaq Badru, expressed his appreciation for the visit and affirmed the Authority’s commitment to improving operational systems. 


He noted that efforts will continue in effectively managing conservation, tourism, and community development activities to further enhance national benefits.



The Controller and Auditor General is on a two-day official visit to inspect various operations carried out by the Authority.

Tourist Attractions in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority include:

  • Ngorongoro Crater – the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera

  • Olduvai Gorge – one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world

  • Empakaai and Olmoti Craters – scenic hiking and bird-watching destinations

  • Wildlife viewing – including the Big Five and rare species like the black rhino

  • Cultural visits to Maasai communities living within the conservation area

  • Lake Magadi – a soda lake known for its flamingo population

  • Shifting Sand Dune – a unique volcanic ash dune that moves with the wind

  • Ndutu Area – famous for the wildebeest calving season during the Great Migration
