TFS-Saohill Plantation Rangers Commended for Excellent Performance

Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana, has commended the team at Saohill Plantation for their exemplary work during her visit to the site today.

During the visit, Minister Chana reviewed the progress report on various activities from Chief Ranger PCO Tebby Yoramu.

The report highlighted achievements in seedling production, timber harvesting, resin tapping, beekeeping, and ecological tourism.

Minister Chana emphasized the importance of fostering strong collaboration between rangers and local communities, maintaining high standards of ethics, and establishing an efficient system for accessing information about all plantation areas.

She also called on the rangers to continue their efforts in forest fire prevention, especially during the dry season. "Despite the challenges of fire incidents in conservation areas, we must employ modern technologies, including drones, to enhance rapid fire detection and response," said Minister Chana.

Additionally, Minister Chana stressed the need for effective management of forest and beekeeping resources to prevent conflicts related to encroachments by local residents.

In response, the Director of the Forestry and Beekeeping Department, Mr. Deusdedit Bwoyo, assured that the Ministry, through his department, will continue to support and enhance performance to address the challenges facing conservation efforts.
