The Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) has been awarded the prestigious European Quality Choice Diamond Award 2025 for the sixth consecutive year.
The award was presented during an official ceremony held in Stockholm, Sweden, and recognizes TANAPA’s outstanding performance in tourism service delivery and environmental conservation.
The award was presented by Michael Harris, Chief Executive Advisor of the European Society for Quality Research (ESQR), who praised TANAPA for consistently maintaining high standards in sustainable tourism and quality management.
“TANAPA has demonstrated excellence in conservation and tourism service provision, setting a benchmark for institutions worldwide. This award reflects their commitment to quality and innovation,” said Harris.
Receiving the award on behalf of TANAPA, Tanzania’s Ambassador to Sweden, Mobhare Matinyi, expressed gratitude to ESQR and emphasized the importance of the award in strengthening Tanzania’s global image as a top tourist destination.
“We are delighted to see TANAPA recognized once again with this prestigious award for the sixth year in a row. It affirms the hard work and professionalism of the institution,” said Matinyi.
He noted that the award would further boost interest among international travelers, especially from Scandinavian countries, and pledged to intensify promotional efforts targeting Swedish tourists.
“This recognition will encourage more curiosity about Tanzania and its national parks. We are particularly promoting Saadani National Park among Swedish visitors due to its unique characteristic of being the only park in East Africa where the beach meets the bush,” he added.
Saadani National Park, located along the Indian Ocean coastline, is seen as a strategic destination for both tourism and investment, with direct connectivity to the Zanzibar archipelago.
TANAPA’s Conservation Commissioner, Mussa Nasoro Kuji, extended thanks to ESQR for recognizing the institution’s dedication to excellence, noting that such awards represent more than just a trophy.
“Events like this are not only about honoring achievements, but also about inspiring the international community to adopt best practices, encourage innovation, and promote a culture of continuous improvement in public service,” Kuji said.
Also attending the ceremony were TANAPA’s Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner, Godwell Meing’ataki; Principal Conservation Officer in charge of Quality Management Systems, Eunice Msangi; Senior Conservation Officer, Andrew Mbai; and Senior Embassy Officer at the Tanzanian Embassy in Sweden, Malik Hassan.
TANAPA is one of the few government institutions in Tanzania certified under the international standard ISO 9001:2015. The authority oversees 21 national parks and plays a leading role in promoting sustainable tourism that improves visitor experiences, supports local communities, and contributes significantly to national economic development.
By receiving this international recognition, TANAPA continues to set a high standard in conservation and eco-tourism, reinforcing Tanzania’s reputation as a global leader in natural heritage protection.
