FTK Launches Key Development Projects to Support Girls' Education in Kilimanjaro

Foundation Transformation Kilimanjaro (FTK), a Tanzanian NGO, in collaboration with various local and international stakeholders, has officially launched three major projects aimed at improving educational facilities and transportation in Kilimanjaro Region.

The projects include the construction of a girls' dormitory, the establishment of a reading library at TPC Secondary School, and the purchase of a new "Bus Mama" vehicle to assist women around the TPC factory area.

The newly inaugurated girls' dormitory, with a capacity of over 60 students, was established in response to the challenges faced by young girls who previously had to sleep in classrooms due to long commutes from their homes.

Recognizing the risks and hardships faced by these students, especially in terms of exposure to unsafe environments and potential exploitation, stakeholders prioritized the construction of the dormitory to provide a safe and supportive environment conducive to academic success.

Established in 2016, TPC Secondary School has faced a lack of infrastructure for girls until now.

The addition of the dormitory and reading library is expected to have a lasting positive impact on the school’s academic outcomes, particularly for girls who now have access to safe accommodation and essential resources.

In addition to the school projects, FTK, together with its partners, procured a Land Cruiser valued at 226 million Tanzanian Shillings.

The vehicle, known as "Bus Mama," will provide vital transportation support for women in the TPC area, addressing a significant mobility challenge and promoting economic empowerment.

The newly established library, with an investment of 126 million Tanzanian Shillings, aims to enhance students’ academic experience, providing them with a dedicated space for study and research.
