The Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana, has directed newly promoted officers within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) to discharge their duties with utmost diligence and professionalism, emphasizing that a leadership position is a trust that comes with significant responsibilities.
During the official promotion ceremony, Ambassador Dr. Chana officiated the promotion of two Deputy Conservation Commissioners and witnessed the conferment of ranks to five Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioners.
The promotions were conducted in the presence of the Chairman of the NCAA Board of Directors, Retired General Venance Mabeyo, who presided over the promotion of the five senior officers.
The officers promoted directly by the Minister include:

Joas John Makwati, formerly Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner, who has been promoted to Deputy Commissioner for Conservation, Tourism, and Community Development; and

Aidan Paul Makalla, promoted to Deputy Commissioner for Corporate Services within NCAA.
The following officers were promoted by the Chairman of the Board, Retired General Venance Mabeyo:

Gasper Stanley Lyimo, Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner for Planning and Investment;

Paul Geofrey Shaidi, Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner for Legal Services;
-
Charles Marwa Wangwe, Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner for Finance and Accounting;
-
Godwin Felician Kashaga, Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner for Internal Audit; and
-
Mariam Kobelo, formerly Principal Conservation Officer for Tourism and Marketing, promoted to Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner.
In her remarks, Minister Dr. Chana urged the newly promoted officers to exhibit strong leadership and commitment in executing their roles.
“It is my expectation that all of you entrusted with these new ranks will serve as role models and work with dedication. Your commitment will play a key role in protecting and conserving the Ngorongoro area, ensuring it remains a leading destination for visitors,” she said.
NCAA Conservation Commissioner, Mr. Abdul-Razak Badru, stated that all NCAA staff have undergone military-style training as part of a transition from the previous civilian structure.
He emphasized that the authority will continue to optimize the use of its human resources to strengthen conservation, community development, and tourism infrastructure.
Board Chairman Retired General Venance Mabeyo underscored that the success of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area largely depends on the integrity and competence of its leadership.
He urged the newly promoted officers to carry the hope and responsibility of delivering on conservation, tourism, and community development mandates.
General Mabeyo further commended the Minister, the Government, and tourism stakeholders for their continued support, which contributed to Ngorongoro being named Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction for the Year 2025.
