Significant Infrastructure Development in Arusha Region Under President Samia's  Leadership

In the three years since President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan took office, remarkable progress has been achieved in the construction sector, particularly in road and bridge infrastructure in the Arusha Region.

Under the stewardship of the Sixth Phase Government, spearheaded by President Samia, TANROADS has implemented extensive efforts resulting in the maintenance and rehabilitation of roads and bridges.

This has led to a notable increase in the maintenance budget and a significant expansion of the paved road network.

From 2021 to 2024, the paved road network has grown from 425.78 kilometers to 478.78 kilometers, representing a substantial increase of 53 kilometers.

Reginald Massawe, the Manager of TANROADS in the Arusha Region, highlighted several key achievements during a press briefing in Arusha City on March 1, 2024.

Notable accomplishments include the construction of tarmac roads such as Wasso-Sale (49 kilometers), T/Packers-Bypass (1 kilometer), and Kijenge – Usariver (3 kilometers). Additionally, over 152 kilometers of roads are currently undergoing tarmac construction, including projects like Mianzini-Ngaramtoni Juu (18 kilometers), Karatu-Kilimapunda (51 kilometers), and Mbaunda-Losinyai (28 kilometers).

The Government has also initiated ambitious projects such as the construction of the Arusha-Kibaya-Kongwa road (453 kilometers) and the Karatu – Mbulu – Haydom – Sibiti River – Lalago – Maswa road (339 kilometers). Furthermore, plans are underway for the construction of the Arusha - Kibaya - Kongwa road spanning 453.2 kilometers.

In addition to road infrastructure, significant progress has been made in bridge construction, with completed projects including the Nduruma Bridge and Kimosonu Bridge.

Moreover, the installation of 991 lights along various roads, including Arusha-Namanga, Arusha-Minjingu, and Kijenga-Usariver, has enhanced safety and visibility for motorists.

With ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure across the region, the Arusha Region is poised for further development and economic growth under President Samia Suluhu's leadership.
