The Government has launched the National Youth Development Policy 2007, revised edition 2024, aimed at addressing various challenges faced by the youth in the country.
The launch took place today, August 12, 2024, at the Jakaya Kikwete Convention Center in Dodoma.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office - Labour, Youth, Employment, and the Disabled, Ridhiwani Kikwete, stated that the government has completed the review of the 2007 National Youth Development Policy and its 2024 edition to provide guidance and direction on youth development issues.
Ridhiwani noted that the policy aligns with various societal, economic, political, and technological changes. "The government understands the significant contribution of youth to digital development, as they are innovative, tech-savvy, and capable of driving substantial changes in our communities," he said.
He added that the new policy would foster the establishment of a national youth council, reflecting President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan’s commitment to addressing youth challenges with effective solutions.

Additionally, Minister Ridhiwani urged his office's staff to adapt to current changes in serving the public.
The Ministry's Permanent Secretary, Mary Maganga, mentioned that in celebration of Youth Day, they have organized a two-day forum bringing together over 3,000 youth from various regions of the country. "During the forum, youths had the opportunity to provide feedback on the Vision 2050, digital opportunities, youth and the economy, mental health, and psychological aspects of youth, as well as employment and empowerment," said Maganga.
Youth Representative, Charles Ruben, expressed gratitude to President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan for her efforts to support and uplift the youth.
