District Commissioner Confirms Arrest of Madrasa Teacher for Alleged Child Defilement

The District Commissioner of Mafia, Pwani Region, Aziza Mangosongo, has confirmed the arrest of a Madrasa teacher accused of sodomizing more than ten children, with several other cases under investigation.

Furthermore, she expressed concern over the apparent indifference of some residents of the island towards combating such atrocities, which has led to an increase in such incidents despite government efforts to eradicate child abuse.

Speaking passionately at a public meeting in the village of Kilindoni, Msufini Sub-village, Mangosongo revealed that since assuming her role, she has encountered a district leading in cases of child sodomy, rape, and teenage pregnancies, posing a serious threat to children's safety.

She urged parents and the community to collaborate in protecting their children.

Zaynab Matitu Vullu, Chairperson of the Women's Union in Pwani Region, appealed to the District Commissioner of Mafia to thoroughly investigate such cases and take strict action against perpetrators as a deterrent.

Vullu condemned gender-based violence, sodomy, and rape, emphasizing their grave threat to children's safety.
