TANAPA Appoints Nine Assistant Conservation Commissioners to Enhance Organizational Performance




The Conservation Commissioner of the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA), Musa Nassoro Kuji, has officially sworn in and conferred ranks upon nine newly promoted Assistant Conservation Commissioners during a ceremony held at TANAPA Headquarters in Arusha.



The appointment ceremony, conducted on May 12, 2025, marks a strategic move by the Authority to strengthen its leadership and improve efficiency in the management and conservation of the country's national parks.



In his address, Commissioner Kuji urged the newly appointed officials to serve with dedication, professionalism, and humility, emphasizing the importance of responsive and inclusive leadership.



“Go forth and serve with diligence and professionalism while upholding the oaths you have taken today. A good leader is one who listens to the voices of those they lead—therefore, be attentive to the people under your leadership,” stated Commissioner Kuji.


Speaking on behalf of the new appointees, Assistant Conservation Commissioner Simon Aweda—who also serves as the Chief Park Warden of Burigi-Chato National Park—expressed deep gratitude to TANAPA’s Board of Trustees and the Management for their recognition and trust.

“On behalf of my fellow newly appointed Assistant Commissioners, I extend our sincere appreciation to the Board of Trustees and TANAPA Management for entrusting us with these responsibilities. As we have just sworn our oaths, we pledge to carry out our duties with utmost commitment and professionalism, working towards the Authority’s mission of sustainable conservation and the advancement of tourism within our national parks,” said Commissioner Aweda.



The newly appointed Assistant Conservation Commissioners are: Simon Aweda, Catherine Mbena, Marckyfarreny Rwezaula, Nuhu Masay, Glads Ng’umbi, Dr. Halima Kiwango, Halid Mngofi, Catherine Mwamage, and Julius Rutainurwa.
