Tanzania's Vice President Calls for Police Reform and Modernization

During the inauguration of the Mount "A" Police Station in the Dodoma Region, Tanzania's Vice President, Dr. Philip Mpango, urged the police force to adhere to regulations and uphold the law while executing their duties.

He emphasized the importance of ethics, discipline, and accountability in maintaining law and order. 

Additionally, he commended the police force and other security agencies for their efforts in enhancing peace and security in the country.
Furthermore, the Vice President stressed the need for the police to adapt quickly to new crime-fighting techniques by embracing the use of technology, particularly in intelligence, cybersecurity, and incorporating robotics. 
He also highlighted the importance of improving licensing systems, vehicle inspections, and utilizing technology such as road cameras and body-cam jackets to curb corruption and enhance professionalism in law enforcement, thereby reducing road accidents.

Moreover, the Vice President emphasized the importance of fostering good relations between the police force and the public to effectively combat all forms of crime. 
He also called on citizens to respect the law enforcement process. He underscored the need to continue community policing initiatives.
The Vice President urged the Ministry of Home Affairs to implement recommendations aimed at enhancing criminal justice institutions, including strengthening complaint desks and providing competent personnel for investigations to improve the performance of the police force.
In response, the Minister of Home Affairs, Engineer Hamad Masauni, noted the police force's efforts in embracing various technology systems to enhance efficiency and transparency in law enforcement, in line with the President's directives.
IGP Camillus Wambura reiterated the police force's commitment to serving the government and citizens with high integrity, fairness, and ensuring that services provided are appropriate and necessary. He emphasized that the construction of modern police stations would facilitate the realization of the true purpose of the police force, as these buildings are conducive to effective duty execution.
