 Italian Agency and FederUnacoma Host Agricultural Machinery Meeting in Tanzania



Italian Ambassador to Tanzania, Marco Lombardi, (Center) speaks with business owners and agriculture stakeholders during a meeting organized by the Italian Trade Agency in collaboration with FederUnacoma, an Italian agricultural association. The meeting took place at the Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam.


The aim of the March 18 meeting was to provide education and clarification on agricultural machinery from Italy to farmers, exporters, and professionals from Tanzania regarding the importance of modern technology in the agriculture sector. Additionally, on March 19, the Italian companies involved will visit local businesses in Tanzania.


Starting from April 2024, the Italian Trade Agency will initiate the process of selecting companies to fund their trips to Italy to learn about and explore business opportunities.


Italian agricultural machinery companies such as Masscar, Barbieri, and Ocmis Irrigazione have come to provide education and demonstrate their commitment to supporting the growth of the agriculture sector in Tanzania.


Key participants included Italian Ambassador Marco Lombardi, Fabio Ricci from FederUnacoma, and Riccardo Zucconi, Director of the Italian Trade Agency in Addis Ababa, and the launch of the 46th EIMA meeting.


Another significant opportunity presented was connecting businesses to increase collaboration between Italian companies and Tanzanian entrepreneurs.


Fabio Ricci, Deputy Director of FederUnacoma, emphasized Italy's role in meeting Tanzania's agricultural technology needs. He highlighted a significant increase in imports from Italy since 2022, confirming the growing market and influence in agricultural machinery in Tanzania.


An international agricultural exhibition is scheduled from November 6 to 10 in Bologna, organized by FederUnacoma, providing a crucial platform for collaboration between Italy and Tanzania.


With over 50,000 different types of machinery and display equipment, the meeting offers solutions for various agricultural activities, including planting, crop protection, and harvesting.


Of particular importance is the Idrotech exhibition showcasing innovative irrigation technologies crucial for improving crop productivity and resilience. The meeting aims to strengthen Tanzania's agricultural economy by promoting local business development and fostering international cooperation.


Riccardo Zucconi, Director of the Italian Trade Agency in Addis Ababa and representative for Tanzania, emphasized the importance of cooperation between the agency and FederUnacoma.


Highlighting the significant advancements resulting from the partnership between Italian companies, he stressed the importance of collaboration between the Italian Trade Agency and FederUnacoma in promoting Italian agricultural machinery globally. He reiterated the success of previous EIMA International editions and the commitment of both organizations to achieving international cooperation.


The EIMA International event focuses on innovation and sustainability, aligning with addressing global agricultural challenges, making it a crucial hub for agriculture sector stakeholders.


The meeting held at Serena Hotel Dar es Salaam represents a significant step towards strengthening cooperation between Italy and Tanzania, thus paving the way for mutually beneficial collaboration in the agricultural machinery sector.
