Minister Kairuki Commits Government Aid to Boost TANAPA's Wildlife Protection and Tourism

Tanzania's Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Angellah Kairuki, has pledged the government's unwavering support to TANAPA (Tanzania National Parks) in acquiring modern equipment for wildlife protection, aimed at fostering tourism in the National Parks.

The commitment was announced during a meeting held on October 28, 2023, at the organization's headquarters in Arusha, where Minister Kairuki emphasized the government's dedication to ensuring TANAPA receives state-of-the-art resources to bolster patrols, thus securing sustainable conservation for both current and future benefits.

"Given that TANAPA is responsible for safeguarding 10.2% of Tanzania's total landmass for conservation and development, it's crucial to ensure no encroachment of settlements or livestock within these areas," stated Minister Kairuki.

Additionally, Kairuki urged TANAPA to continue fostering good relationships with the surrounding villages to promote collective conservation efforts and mitigate conflicts between locals and the parks.

Moreover, in celebration of Tanzania's 62 years of independence, Minister Kairuki invited Tanzanians and non-Tanzanians to participate in the annual Mount Kilimanjaro climbing event. She urged widespread participation, anticipating a record-breaking number of climbers, as multiple companies have been tasked with organizing the ascent, unlike the previous year's single company.

Responding to the Minister's visit, Acting Commissioner for Conservation at TANAPA, Juma Kuji, expressed gratitude for her directives, assuring full compliance with laws and regulations to enhance conservation and boost tourism in the country.

During the visit, Minister Kairuki unveiled her intention to tour all National Parks, aiming to witness tourism attractions and engage with the park's staff firsthand.
