Moshi-based tour firm chief executive officer has been commended for spearheading recovery efforts and resilience against Covid-19.
Ms Zainab Ansell, the CEO of Zara Tours has topped the list of 100 most effective CEOs in Tanzania for 2021.
She was recognized by a management firm called Eastern Star Consulting Group, Tanzania, according to a press statement.
The statement sent to the media said she emerged "as the only female CEO" in the list of 100 top executives surveyed.
Ms Ansell, who has been in the tour business for the last 35 years, will be among 100 business executives to be recognised on October 8th.
That will coincide with the first Tourism Expo to be organized by the East African Community (EAC) in Arusha from October 9th to 11th.
The Zara Tours boss is credited for having successfully managed her business during the critical days of Covid-19 outbreak which nearly brought the tourism sector to its knees.
These included coming up with innovative packages such as domestic tourism,until then not seen to have much potential to turn around the sector.
The last time Ms Ansell came into national limelight was in August 2020 when her firm was declared the overall winner of the tourism awards by the Tanzania National Parks (Tanapa).
In recent years, according to the statement, the company has received over 13 local and international awards in the tourism business.
One of them was being recognized as one of the most influential women in the tourism business in the East African tourism and leisure sector.
