Yara Tanzania has launched a new software for the farmers.
YaraConnect App is set to play a pivotal role in streamlining logistics in the agricultural supply chain.
"Education that would be impacted to the farmers via the YaraConnect App would invigorate the farmers", said John Mongela, the Arusha regional commissioner.
He said with the economy of Arusha dominated by agriculture and livestock keeping, the new software would be beneficial.
"Yara digital farming solution (YaraConnect) will serve as a catalyst for a vibrant economy", he pointed out after launching the facility at Arusha.
"This drive by Yara is an innovative digital solution that will increase farm productivity", Mr. Mongela explained in Arusha at the weekend.
He said when the farmers are adequately informed they will be able to increase production "and transform their investments into commercial scale".
This would, in turn, increase food production, boost agro-processing activities and revenue collection for the local authorities.
The RC challenged other other agricultural inputs supply companies to emulate the Yara as a model "when it comes to inventing farmer-friendly products that are available all over the country.”
Yara Tanzania managing director Winstone Odhiambo said the YaraConnect programme would boost the farmers' income and scale up their business operations.
"Additionally, by using the app dealers will help expand the economy of Arusha region, a result expected from the improved performance in agriculture ,”, he observed.
On his part, Digital Retail Solution Manager for Yara, Deaodath Mtei said with the launch of YaraConnect App in Arusha Region the farmers would be assured of getting high crop yields.
This is because the farmers will be accessed to the programme for expert information from the company specialists for them to apply.
Arusha is the second region for the launching of the YaraConnect App after a maiden launch in Kilimanjaro region last week. A total of seven regions are targeted.
