Ngorongoro Crater Recognized Among Africa’s Top Attractions in Tripadvisor’s 2025 Best of the Best Awards

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) is proud to celebrate a significant global achievement: Ngorongoro Crater has been ranked #6 among the Top Attractions in Africa in the prestigious Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards for 2025

This recognition places Ngorongoro among the top 1% of destinations worldwide on Tripadvisor, the world’s largest and most trusted travel guidance platform.

The Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice Awards are based entirely on authentic reviews, ratings, and saves from millions of global travelers over a 12-month period. Unlike awards determined by panels or committees, this recognition is powered by the genuine experiences of visitors who explored, experienced, and fell in love with the destinations they chose.

Kristen Dalton, President of Tripadvisor, commented,
“Congratulations to Ngorongoro Crater on its recognition in Tripadvisor's Travellers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best for 2025. Ranking among the top percentage of attractions globally means you have made such a memorable impact on your visitors that many of them took time to go online and leave a glowing review about their experience. Travelers rely on these lists to guide their journeys, and we hope this recognition continues to bring more visitors to Ngorongoro in the years ahead.”

A Natural and Cultural Treasure

Ngorongoro Crater is part of the broader Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO Mixed World Heritage Site located in northern Tanzania. The area is a haven for biodiversity and cultural heritage, featuring one of the world’s largest unbroken volcanic calderas, thriving populations of Africa’s “Big Five,” and globally significant paleoanthropological sites such as Olduvai Gorge and the Laetoli footprints.

It is a place where wildlife roams freely, landscapes shift from lush highlands to endless plains, and ancient human history lies beneath the soil. Whether you’re tracking black rhinos on the crater floor, watching lions hunt in the grasslands, or standing where some of humanity’s earliest ancestors once walked, Ngorongoro offers a deeply immersive experience.

A Testament to Conservation and Hospitality

Abdul-Razaq Badru, NCAA’s Conservation Commissioner, expressed his gratitude for the recognition:
“We are deeply honoured to be included among travelers’ favourites this year as a Tripadvisor Best of the Best 2025 winner. This award reflects the hard work and dedication of our entire team, from conservation officers and guides to community liaisons and hospitality staff. We also sincerely thank all our visitors and reviewers for their continued support, honest feedback, and love for Ngorongoro.”

The NCAA continues to protect and promote Ngorongoro not only as a tourist destination but also as a globally important ecological, cultural, and educational site. Through sustainable tourism and inclusive community engagement, the authority aims to ensure that future generations will continue to explore and benefit from this extraordinary landscape.

Visit Ngorongoro: A Journey Like No Other

As global travel rebounds, the recognition from Tripadvisor serves as both a validation and an invitation — an affirmation of Ngorongoro’s place among the world’s most unforgettable destinations, and a warm welcome to those who have yet to experience its magic.
