The Tanzania Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) secured second place at the 2025 International Workers’ Day celebrations held on May 1 at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha.
TAWIRI’s outstanding performance was recognized thanks to the creativity and dedication shown by its staff during the workers’ parade and exhibition.
The institute’s exhibition vehicle attracted significant attention and stood out as one of the main highlights of the event.
The celebrations provided a valuable opportunity for TAWIRI to showcase the role of wildlife research in promoting sustainable conservation and tourism in Tanzania.
Through informative brochures, publications, wildlife sculptures, and educational videos, TAWIRI illustrated how its scientific work helps address conservation challenges and supports national development.
“Our participation today has been about more than just celebration. It’s about showing the public how research drives conservation and sustainable tourism,” said one TAWIRI representative.
Another participant added, “We are proud that our efforts to educate and engage the community through science have been recognized.”
At the national level, the official Workers’ Day celebration was held in Singida Region, where the President of the United Republic of Tanzania presided over the event.
