Defending Champions Yanga Defeat Rivals Simba 1-0 in Thrilling Tanzanian Premier League Clash

Defending champions Yanga SC continued their dominance over fierce rivals Simba SC with a hard-fought 1-0 victory in a tense Tanzanian Premier League match held at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.

The match was a spectacle of high-quality football, with both teams playing an intense, attacking game throughout.

Despite multiple attempts from both sides, the first half ended goalless, with Yanga's goalkeeper Djidji Diara making a crucial save from Simba’s lethal striker Leonel Ateba, keeping Yanga safe.

As the second half progressed, both teams made tactical substitutions to increase their attacking potency.

Yanga’s key substitution paid off when they introduced attacking midfielder Chama, who immediately made an impact by orchestrating a dangerous move that led to the only goal of the match.

The decisive moment came when Simba’s defender Kijiri inadvertently scored an own goal while trying to clear the ball, giving Yanga the victory.

With this win, Yanga SC now moves to second place on the league table with 15 points from five matches. Simba SC drops to fourth place with 13 points from six games.

Singida Black Stars remain at the top of the table with 16 points from six matches.

This victory reinforces Yanga's strong start to the season as they aim to defend their title, while Simba will need to regroup after another disappointing result against their arch-rivals.
