A British national has told the media that he and several other Turkish citizens were abducted by masked men on Friday in Nairobi, Kenya. Four Turkish nationals are currently missing.

Necdet SeyitoÄŸlu, who lived in the United Kingdom for 18 years before moving to Kenya two years ago, said he was released after eight hours when he showed the alleged kidnappers a copy of his British passport.

In a statement, the UK Foreign Office said, "We are providing consular assistance to a British national and their family following an incident in Kenya."

According to reports, “eight armed individuals emerged from two vehicles and pulled two people inside,” said Kenya Police Spokesperson Resila Onyango.

Later, Yusuf Kar, another British national of Turkish descent, reported the incident to a nearby police station, identifying the abducted individuals as Hüseyin Yeşilsu and Necdet Seyitoğlu.

Turkish authorities have yet to comment on the incident.

The matter is currently under investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kenya.

The Nairobi branch of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) confirmed that it had received reports of the incident and stated, "UNHCR will provide further information once available."

The missing individuals were reportedly under UN protection in Nairobi at the time of the incident.
