TANAPA Receives 13 Repaired Vehicles from FZS to Boost Conservation Efforts



The Commissioner for Conservation, Mussa Nassoro Kuji, officially received 13 vehicles that were repaired by the Frankfurt Zoological Society (FZS) as part of the Emergency and Recovery Support for Biodiversity (ERSB) project.



During the handover ceremony at the FZS offices in Arusha,On August 7, 2024 Commissioner Kuji emphasized, “The vehicles will be utilized for conservation and tourism activities to enhance the protection of natural resources within our National Parks.”



He also called on FZS to continue expanding their conservation initiatives to further benefit the Tanzanian community.





Dr. Ezekiel Dembe, the Resident Director of FZS, highlighted the strong partnership between TANAPA and FZS in advancing conservation efforts. He noted that the repaired vehicles will be distributed across over ten National Parks to support their conservation activities.



The National Parks benefiting from this support include Burigi-Chato, Mto Ugalla, Ibanda-Kyerwa, Rubondo Island, Mahale Mountains, Rumanyika-Karagwe, Mkomazi, Serengeti, Lake Manyara, and Katavi.


These 13 vehicles, initially collected last year from Serengeti National Park in a damaged condition, were repaired by local technicians under the guidance of FZS.


The Frankfurt Zoological Society has played a crucial role in conservation in Tanzania, supporting various community and conservation projects.
