The government has expressed its determination to collaborate with Russia in combating crime in the country, including cybercrime, which has been on the rise in various areas.
This includes enhancing the capacity of law enforcement officers through partnerships with technologically advanced countries to curb transboundary crime.
This statement was made by the Minister of Home Affairs, Engineer Hamad Masauni, during the ongoing International Conference of Senior Government Officials Responsible for Security Matters in Russia, which was opened by the President of the Russian Federation and chaired by the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Patrushev.
"In tackling cybercrime, the use of technology is inevitable, which is why the government sees the need to strengthen our security forces in various aspects, including skills enhancement for our officers.
Through this conference, we aim to build relationships between the Tanzanian Police Force and the Russian Police Force to effectively combat cybercrime, which has caused various societal harms, including security, economic, and ethical concerns," said Minister Masauni.
Speaking at the conference, the Director of Administration and Human Resources Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Miriam Mmbaga, stated that the ministry's strategy aligns with the pace of technological advancement, with a special focus on building the capacity of officers, particularly in technology. She also emphasized the importance of prioritizing employment for individuals with expertise in information technology.
The International Conference of Senior Government Officials Responsible for Security Matters was attended by approximately 20 countries, with a strong emphasis on combating technology-based crime, which has become a threat in various nations.
