ZARA Tanzania Adventures Earns Praise for Conservation and Safety Initiatives on Mount Kilimanjaro

"The Regional Commissioner of Kilimanjaro, Nurdin Babu, has commended ZARA Tanzania Adventures for its efforts in promoting tourism and conserving the environment of Mount Kilimanjaro, ensuring the safety of mountain climbers through an agreement with the emergency aviation company Kili MedAir.

He further praised the company for its patriotism, noting its continuous involvement in organizing ascents to celebrate independence on the summit of the tallest mountain in Africa since 2008. This year, they initiated a campaign to ensure that everyone plants a tree before ascending the mountain.

RC Babu, during the launch of the 'Twenzetu Kileleni Kilimanjaro' campaign on November 4, 2023, emphasized the need to enhance tourism activities and implement strategies to strengthen the management of the unique environment through collaboration between the private sector and the government.

"I take this opportunity to congratulate my sister Zara (Zainab Ansell) for your patriotic commitment because you are actively involved in this matter," stated Babu, highlighting the company's support during fire incidents on Mount Kilimanjaro and its positive impact on tourism.

The Regional Commissioner expressed the government's determination to advance Tanzanian tourism, particularly on Mount Kilimanjaro, emphasizing collaborations through the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) program. He acknowledged the significant role played by KiliMedAir, in collaboration with ZARA, in swiftly responding to emergencies for mountain climbers.

A total of 320 individuals are expected to climb the mountain this year, with ZARA Adventure contributing to 200 climbers, and two other companies each contributing 150 climbers, marking the success of these endeavors.

Encouraging citizens to participate in celebrating the 63rd anniversary of the country's independence, the Regional Commissioner called for involvement in the 'Twenzetu Kileleni Kilimanjaro' campaign starting on December 4, 2023.

Additionally, he lauded ZARA Tanzania Adventures for promoting tree planting and participating in environmental conservation campaigns, recognizing the adverse impact of environmental degradation on Mount Kilimanjaro's ice cap.

In her remarks, ZARA Adventure's Director, Zainab, urged all Tanzanians to join the 'Twenzetu kileleni' festivities by climbing the mountain, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in tree planting before embarking on the ascent.

Gladys Ng'ambi, the Chief Park Warden of KINAPA, highlighted the expansion of entrance gates to Machame and Lomosho for this year's celebrations, supplementing the traditionally used Marangu gate. She also announced that the mountain climbing event for independence celebrations would be preceded by an environmental cleanup activity within the park.

The collaborative efforts between the Office of the Regional Commissioner of Kilimanjaro, ZARA Adventure, and other stakeholders in enhancing tourism and preserving the environment of Mount Kilimanjaro underscore a genuine commitment to safeguarding this natural treasure for current and future generations."
