Minister Kairuki Issues Bold Directives to TANAPA for Economic and Conservation Impact


Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Angellah Kairuki, issued comprehensive directives to Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA), emphasizing the need for the organization to undergo significant changes to contribute effectively to the nation's economy through tourism and resource conservation. 



These instructions were given during the swearing-in ceremony of Conservation Commissioner Musa Kuji on January 29, 2024, at TANAPA's headquarters in Arusha.


Kairuki stressed the importance of innovation in promoting tourist attractions and achieving the goals outlined in the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) manifesto, which aims for five million visitors and a total revenue of six billion US dollars by 2025. Commending President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her global vision through "The Royal Tour," Kairuki urged ministry staff to actively pursue the President's objectives.


TANAPA was also urged to strengthen relationships with surrounding communities, national parks, and various stakeholders globally, emphasizing teamwork and adherence to government procedures. Regarding development projects, Kairuki insisted on timely execution and adherence to procurement procedures for quality outcomes, urging proactive problem-solving.


Secretary-General Dr. Hassan Abbas encouraged Commissioner Kuji to foster unity among staff, emphasizing trust in the Almighty. The ceremony featured a musical tribute by TANAPA's ensemble dedicated to praising President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her role in "The Royal Tour."
