Kinana Advocates Second Term for President Samia, Backing PM Majaliwa's Call for Sole 2025 Candidacy

CCM, Vice Chairman Abdulurhman Kinana has stated that there is no wrongdoing if a leader in power completes their first term and is given a second term.

This comes in response to a proposal by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, also a CCM member, suggesting that the Central and Executive Committees approve a single presidential candidacy form for the 2025 elections, specifically for President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

Speaking before members at a Special Congress of the CCM in the Ruangwa District of Lindi, Kinana emphasized that during the meeting, every speaker praised the positive actions of President Samia Suluhu Hassan in advancing the development of the citizens.

Kinana added that President Samia is showing the way by planning, strategizing, and setting priorities. Tanzanians now take pride in the achievements, and even CCM members assert that the current candidate is suitable for the 2025 elections, acknowledging her significant contributions to the nation.

Kinana affirmed, "And CCM members, it's not a sin to say that the presidential candidate form should be one if they are satisfied with the leader in power. CCM has its own procedure; when a leader completes the first term, they are given the opportunity to lead for the second term."
"President Samia Suluhu Hassan is in her first term, so why shouldn't she be given a second term? There is no reason to say no. For CCM, we adhere to the party's procedure that when a leader finishes the first term, they proceed to the second term."

Earlier, Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, while discussing the implementation of the CCM Election Manifesto in Ruangwa District, stated, "Let me not miss the point in front of my fellow members. Whatever the case may be, Deputy Vice Chairman, we request that you advise in the Central and Executive Committees to endorse only one form for Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan in 2025 as the sole CCM presidential candidate."
