During his visit to four villages in the Mbekenyera ward, Ruangwa district, Lindi region, today (Thursday, December 21, 2023), Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Ruangwa constituency, issued directives to the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA).
In the course of his interactions with residents of Chingumbwa, Mkutingome, Naunambe, and Mbekenyera villages, Prime Minister emphasized the significance of continued trust in the sixth-phase government. He highlighted that over the past two years, Mbekenyera ward has received 2.5 billion Tanzanian Shillings for the implementation of development projects, particularly in the health and education sectors.
Addressing the water needs in Mkutingome village,Prime Minister instructed RUWASA Ruangwa to expedite the completion of the water project, involving Chingumbwa and Mkutingome villages. He emphasized a collaborative effort, suggesting the division of tasks among contractors to ensure efficient progress.
The Acting Manager of RUWASA, Ruangwa district, Engineer Rashid Shabani, provided details about the project, indicating its capacity to produce over 5,000 liters per hour. Waziri Mkuu acknowledged the ongoing efforts and urged a focus on completing the project within the current fiscal year.
In Naunambe village, Prime Minister inspected the construction of the new Nambawala Secondary School, expressing satisfaction with the construction standards. He commended the contractors and urged the District Commissioner of Ruangwa, Hassan Ngoma, to continue utilizing their services.
The Secretary of the project, Hussein Juma Omari, disclosed that the Kata ya Mbekenyera received 560.5 million Tanzanian Shillings from the central government for the construction of the new school under the Secondary Education Quality Improvement Program (SEQUIP). The construction, set to conclude by December 30, 2023, has utilized 510 million Shillings thus far.
During the visit to Mbekenyera village, Majaliwa Mkuu toured the health center, inspecting service delivery. He directed the Acting District Medical Officer, Dr. Boniface Nonga, to oversee the maintenance of the ambulance, ensuring it adequately serves the residents of nearby villages.
Addressing the villagers, Majaliwa encouraged the youth to capitalize on the graphite mining opportunities in the region. He urged them to acquire skills from the Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) to enhance their capabilities in mining, emphasizing that mineral resources could contribute to economic growth.
