CHADEMA Presidential Candidate 2025, Mbowe and Lissu!',
Wangwe underscores the significance of having multiple influential contenders within the party vying for the presidency.
He argues that rather than viewing this as a hurdle, it should be embraced as an opportunity to fortify CHADEMA's foundations and foster greater cohesion.
As Tanzania braces itself for the 2025 general elections, internal tensions within the Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA) party have reached a boiling point, fueled by revelations that two prominent leaders are eyeing the presidency.
The party's National Chairman, Freeman Mbowe, and its Vice Chairman for Mainland Tanzania, Tundu Lissu, have both thrown their hats into the ring, igniting fears of a potential showdown that could fracture CHADEMA's unity.
In a bid to avert a crisis, party stalwart Bob Chacha Wangwe has implored the two leaders to set aside their differences and forge a consensus on the party's presidential candidate.
Should Mbowe and Lissu fail to find common ground, Wangwe advocates for both leaders to step aside in favor of a compromise candidate, such as General Ulimwengu, to safeguard the party's cohesion.
He further proposes that Mbowe and Lissu redirect their ambitions towards legislative roles in their respective constituencies to bolster the party's strength.
Drawing on historical parallels, Wangwe recalls a similar scenario during the inaugural multi-party elections in 1995, where CHADEMA's decision not to field a presidential candidate stemmed from a desire to avoid internal discord.
Wangwe issues a stern plea to CHADEMA members nationwide, urging them to refrain from aligning with either faction and instead remain unwaveringly loyal to the party.
He warns that any fissure based on support for Mbowe or Lissu could imperil the party's unity and thwart its electoral ambitions.
