60th Anniversary of Ruaha National Park: Minister Pindi Launches Balloon Tourism

The Minister of Natural Resources and Tourism, Ambassador Dr. Pindi Chana, officially launched balloon tourism in celebration of the 60th anniversary of Ruaha National Park. The launch took place today, October 7, 2024, at the Korongo View area within the park.

In a special interview on TBC's "Jambo Tanzania" program, Dr. Chana attributed the success of the tourism industry to the efforts of President Samia Suluhu Hassan in promoting Tanzania’s tourist attractions globally.

“We thank President Samia for showcasing Tanzania’s tourist attractions to the world. As a result, the number of tourists has increased, reaching 1.8 million, and the tourism sector now contributes 17% to the national revenue, with foreign exchange earnings of approximately USD 3.6 billion,” said Dr. Chana.

Regarding infrastructure improvements in Ruaha National Park, Dr. Chana highlighted the construction of the Iringa-Msembe road, which spans 104 kilometers. Additionally, she mentioned that the park will have its own airstrip, while the nearby Nduli airport in Iringa is also undergoing renovations.

“In the past three years, we have seen significant changes in the tourism sector. The government continues to improve many tourist sites, and we encourage investors to explore opportunities in Ruaha National Park,” she added.

This milestone marks another major step in enhancing Tanzania's tourism sector, with balloon tours offering a new and exciting way for visitors to experience the natural beauty of Ruaha National Park.
