NCAA Concludes Domestic Tourism Campaign at Amboni Caves

TANGA, February 14, 2025 – The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority (NCAA) has successfully concluded a campaign promoting domestic tourism at the Amboni Caves in Tanga.

The event, which coincided with Valentine’s Day, attracted many visitors who explored the caves and enjoyed traditional cuisine, particularly dishes from the Tanga region.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Tanga District Commissioner Japhari Kubecha praised NCAA for its innovative approach to boosting local tourism through the campaign and the accompanying cooking competition.

"I commend NCAA for their great creativity in promoting tourism at the Amboni Caves. I assure you that the Tanga District government will continue to collaborate with you in preserving and enhancing these unique caves," said Kubecha.

Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner for Tourism and Marketing at NCAA, Mariam Kobelo, reaffirmed the authority’s commitment to improving infrastructure at the caves to attract more visitors.

"We are currently implementing various strategies, including infrastructure improvements, revenue collection system upgrades, the construction of resting areas, and the establishment of camping sites for visitors who wish to stay overnight," said Kobelo.

She further emphasized that concluding the campaign with a cooking competition provided an opportunity for small-scale entrepreneurs in Tanga to increase their income.

Participants in the cooking competition were awarded cash prizes and gas cylinders by NCAA, supporting the government's Sixth Phase initiative to promote the use of clean energy for cooking.
